Change Your Diet, Reduce Inflammation

Spring is here and that means it’s finally shorts season! Many of you might want to even switch up your heartier winter diets and we’re here to help you make those changes! Food and nutrition are directly linked to our overall health and how we feel daily. You might not realize it, but eating certain foods may actually be making some of your health issues worse. Sweating in our infrared saunas, along with an improved diet, moderate exercise, and plenty of hydration will reset you on the right path to health & wellness. You will definitely start to notice an all around difference even in just a few days of changes. Fuel your body with the proper nutrients and vitamins it needs so you can look and feel your very best!  

We’re putting our sweat spotlight on inflammation, which is a natural bodily function that helps with your healing process. In terms of your all around diet and trying to eat a majority of anti-inflammatory foods for better health, the Mediterranean diet might be your best option to help reduce inflammation in your body. The Mediterranean diet or lifestyle, is mostly vegetables, fruit, omega rich foods like fish, and little meat consumption. Think of anything fresh from the sea or land that isn’t over processed.

Here are 10 suggested food items that will help reduce inflammation:

  1. Leafy Green Vegetables

  2. Peppers + Broccoli

  3. Fruit - Berries, Pineapple, Cherries, Grapes

  4. Beets

  5. Salmon + Tuna + Other Fatty Omega Rich Fish

  6. Spices - Turmeric + Ginger

  7. Bone Broth

  8. Nuts + Seeds - Walnuts, Almonds, Flax, Chia

  9. Avocado

  10. Tomatoes

Start by switching out a few items in your diet or removing foods that do cause inflammation like refined carbs, high sugary items, fried food, and processed meat. Try sticking to the simple rule of “eating the rainbow”, which means your plate should always have a majority of fresh food items with Earth’s natural color (think red + orange peppers, beets, carrots, veggies + fruits, etc.)

Eating healthy doesn’t have to break the bank, you can always find many of these items in the frozen food isle, canned veggie aisle (but be aware of sodium here), or you can buy in bulk and freeze as you need! Cutting down on your meat intake can be easy too if you replace with fish, eggs, beans, lentils, quinoa there are so many protein options out there that are healthy, taste great, and will keep you satisfied.
